The bus transfer module communicates with the loop interface module through a direct memory access ribbon cable. The bus transfer module transfers the data from the plant loop to the computer transfer module. The computer transfer module responds to commands from the Driver and delivers the data requested. The PCT provides two RS232C communication channels for communication. These channels are similar to those provided by its predecessor, the CIU.
