Siemens Receives SBTi Certification for Net-Zero Emissions Target, Accelerating Sustainable Industrial Transformation 27 / 09

Amidst the global wave of green industrial transformation, Siemens has taken another significant step forward. Recently, Siemens announced that its net-zero emissions target has been certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a crucial international recognition of the company's progress towards sustainable development goals. This achievement coincides with Siemens' participation in the 24th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) under the theme of "Convergence of Digital and Reality, Leading the Sustainable Industrial Future."

1.Showcasing Strength in Integration of Digitization and Sustainability

At this year's CIIF, Siemens fully displayed the robust capabilities of its automation and digital product portfolio through its meticulously designed "Diamond Heart" exhibition stand. These products encompass a complete architecture spanning from the industrial field level to the cloud level, aimed at helping enterprises bridge the gap between IT and OT to achieve more efficient, flexible, secure, and sustainable production. On-site, Siemens unveiled 12 innovative hardware and software-integrated products and solutions, including the SIMATIC S7-1200 G2 and PCS 7 V10.0, further enriching its product line.

2.Collaborating with Ecosystem Partners to Build the Future of Industrial Digitization

Dr. Xiao Song, Siemens Global Executive Vice President, Chairman, President, and CEO of Siemens China, emphasized that amidst the restructuring of global supply chains, Chinese industrial enterprises are facing an urgent need for transformation. In response, Siemens is accelerating the integration of the physical and digital worlds, leveraging the Siemens Xcelerator platform to create a more open innovation ecosystem that incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as AI and digital twins into industrial applications, empowering Chinese enterprises to stride towards a new era of high-tech, high-efficiency, and high-quality industries. Since its establishment in China in November 2022, Siemens Xcelerator has attracted over 100 partners and jointly launched more than 20 collaborative solutions. The Siemens Integrated Supply Chain Planning and Management Platform—Smart Demand & Supply Control, jointly released by Siemens and DingTalk (China) Information Technology Co., Ltd. at this CIIF, is another fruit of this ecological cooperation.

3.Green Overseas Strategy, Ushering in a New Chapter of Enterprise Internationalization

Siemens not only focuses on digital transformation in the domestic market but also actively supports Chinese industrial enterprises in expanding overseas. During the exhibition, Siemens jointly released the "Exploring the Path of Carbon Neutrality - In-Depth Insights into Green Internationalization of Enterprises (2024-2025)" report with the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), providing in-depth guidance and suggestions for enterprises pursuing green internationalization. Additionally, Siemens is working with partners such as the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) to build a credible carbon data calculation and exchange system based on the SiGREEN platform, accelerating the green internationalization process of Chinese enterprises.

4.Innovative Product Launch, Driving Green and Low-Carbon Development

In terms of sustainable development, Siemens and BASF jointly launched the SIRIUS 3RV2, a new electrical safety product featuring a housing and functional components made from biomass-balanced plastics, significantly reducing carbon equivalent emissions throughout its life cycle. This EcoTech-declared product marks a solid step forward for Siemens in promoting transparency and assessing the full life cycle performance of products.

5.Deepening Collaboration to Build a New Ecosystem for Industrial Digital Transformation

During the exhibition, Siemens signed cooperation agreements with nearly 30 Chinese enterprises, covering industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and machinery manufacturing, to jointly promote digital transformation. Notably, strategic partnerships with Luoyang Landy Glass Machinery Co., Ltd. and Prexene New Energy Materials (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will have a profound impact on energy-saving, carbon reduction, smart manufacturing, and industrial digitization. Meanwhile, Siemens has also deepened cooperation with multiple enterprises in areas such as AI applications and green supply chain construction, jointly advancing a new chapter in sustainable industrial development.

Siemens' SBTi certification and a series of initiatives at the CIIF not only demonstrate its leading position in the field of sustainable development but also provide valuable experience and references for global industrial enterprises undergoing green transformation. Looking ahead, Siemens will continue to collaborate with partners from all walks of life to drive sustainable development in the industrial sector, leading the global industry towards a greener and smarter future.
