ABB Robots Steal the Show at 2024 CIIF: Exploring "Infinite Possibilities" 30 / 09

ABB Unveils Innovative Products at CIIF

At the 24th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) in 2024, ABB robots showcased their latest achievements in intelligent manufacturing under the theme of "Not Just Robots, But Infinite Possibilities." Across two booths in Hall 8.1 (e001) and Hall 6.1 (b171), ABB displayed a comprehensive range of innovative products, services, and solutions, including collaborative robots, automotive applications, new application zones, digitalization zones, and customer service zones, featuring dozens of items such as industrial robots, the next-generation robot control platform OmniCore™, cloud drives, inverters, efficient motors, and servo motors.

According to Pudong Observer, ABB globally premiered the ultra-high precision option, Gofa™ Ultra Accuracy, for its GoFa™ collaborative robots at the exhibition. This option enhances path accuracy by over ten times, supporting precision manufacturing in electronics, automotive, aerospace, and metal processing industries. Additionally, ABB exhibited its OmniCore™ control platform, developed with an investment of USD 170 million, which integrates AI, sensors, cloud computing, and edge computing systems, boosting operational speed by 25% and reducing energy consumption by 20%.

CIIF Highlights ABB's Innovative Strength

The CIIF served not only as a platform for showcasing new products but also as an important stage for ABB to demonstrate its innovative prowess. Marcus Weldin, President of ABB's Robotics business unit, stated, "AI, as a key driver propelling the development of robotics, is shaping a new era of industrial robots, enabling more possibilities across various industries."

ABB's presence at CIIF garnered widespread recognition from the industry. Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Commission (SEITC) reported that the CIIF attracted over 2,600 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions worldwide, covering an exhibition area of 280,000 square meters and welcoming 201,000 professional visitors, with an online exposure of 1.351 billion. During the exhibition, more than 1,000 new technologies and products were premiered, with ABB showcasing its latest technological advancements in intelligent manufacturing as one of the exhibitors.

ABB's Continuous Development in the Chinese Market

ABB remains confident in the Chinese market, with the CIIF further proving this point. Han Chen, Senior Vice President of ABB Group and President of ABB Robotics Business in China, noted, "As the world's largest installer of industrial robots, China accounts for over 50% of global installations, with the manufacturing robot density reaching over 400 units per 10,000 workers and continuing to climb. This trend, combined with the integration of AI and new technologies, presents tremendous opportunities for ABB's AI-driven robot solutions."

ABB boasts a research and development team of over 300 people in China, working closely with the group to bring advanced technologies to the global market. ABB robots in China have formed a full value chain from research and development, production, sales, system integration, to after-sales services. Han Chen also mentioned that ABB's robotics mega factory in Pudong, Shanghai, is a microcosm of ABB's deep involvement in China's industrialization and empowering the era of AI. This USD 150 million, 67,000-square-meter "mega factory" not only produces but also undertakes research and development responsibilities, with many ABB innovations carrying Chinese traces into the global market.

Looking Ahead: Infinite Possibilities in Intelligent Manufacturing

As the level of intelligence increases, the manufacturing industry will increasingly rely on data management and algorithm optimization. The emergence of open automation platforms will make technical integration more efficient and flexible for enterprises. ABB, as a leading enterprise in intelligent manufacturing, will continue to play its pioneering role in innovation, driving the global industry towards a more intelligent, autonomous, and efficient direction.

At CIIF, ABB not only showcased its latest technologies and products but also engaged in discussions with other companies and experts to explore future trends in intelligent manufacturing. As demonstrated by ABB, intelligent manufacturing is not just about product and technological innovation but also about a transformation in production methods and thinking.

Looking ahead, ABB will continue to embrace the concept of "infinite possibilities," continuously exploring new areas and applications of intelligent manufacturing, and injecting new vitality into the development of the global industry. As mentioned in the SEITC report, CIIF will continue to showcase new achievements in industrial development, promote industrial technology exchanges and cooperation, and facilitate the high-quality development of the industrial economy. ABB will work hand in hand with global industrial partners to jointly create new glories in industrial development.
